Dr. Anna Banerji Transforming Healthcare for better

Dr. Anna Banerji is a renowned pediatrician and advocate who has dedicated her career to support refugee and indigenous communities. She founded the North American Refugee Health Conference, the largest of its kind, and the COSTI Pediatric Clinic, which has screened hundreds of refugee children in Toronto. Her work has been instrumental in improving healthcare for these vulnerable populations.

For nearly 30 years, Dr. Banerji has worked closely with indigenous communities across Canada, founding the Indigenous Health Conference in 2014. Her research on respiratory infections in Inuit babies has raised awareness about the lack of vaccine access and contributed to securing additional funding for Indigenous healthcare.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Banerji served as a public health consultant for the Nishnawbe Aski Nation and worked in remote communities to vaccinate First Nations youth. Her dedication has earned her numerous accolades, including the Dr. Peter Henderson Bryce Award and the Ontario Pediatrician of the Year award.
